Genetic Variation Analysis between Wild and Cultured Pangasianodon hypopthalmus Using COI and Cytochrome b Among Asian Countries

One of the top species in aquaculture sector, known as striped catfish or Pangasianodon hypophthalmus, is an important and valuable freshwater fish many countries. Due to high demand for this species, their number has declined "threatened" levels. Hence, purpose study analyse genetic variation wild cultured collected from five producers Asian countries; Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Philippines, by using mitochondrial DNA partial region data sequence; CO1 cytochrome b gene. Population analyses 395 base pairs length 275 nucleotide sequence have shown no significance difference between catfish. Vietnam had a wide range distance intrapopulation compared with other countries 0.000-0.040 gene 0.003-0.008 The Neighbour-joining method also been used construct phylogenetic trees gene; tree formed few subclades mixed populations, showed only divided into sub-populations. For four countries, Philippines were same group. study's findings may provide reference inter intra-relationships P. hypophthalmus that help activity
